Biography

Prof. Liselotte Mettler, hailing from Vienna, Austria, embarked on a remarkable journey through the medical world from 1959 to 1981, spanning Tübingen, Vienna, and Kiel, where she honed her expertise in gynecology. Since earning her doctorate in 1967, she has been a trailblazer in European medicine, pioneering laparoscopic hysterectomies and establishing herself as both a distinguished researcher and a skilled surgeon. Serving as Deputy Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospitals Schleswig-Holstein from 1981 to 2008, she significantly contributed to the advancement of reproductive medicine, gynecological endoscopy, and endocrinology. Her leadership extended to roles as Director of the Kiel School of Gynecological Endoscopy and Head of the Kiel Gynecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine Division. As General Secretary of the International Academy of Human Reproduction, Honorary member of IFFS, and Senator of ESGE, Prof. Mettler continues to shape the landscape of her field, embodying a rare blend of medical acumen and compassionate care.
